Silk Pillowcases - Are They Worth The Price?

In my opinion, the most important thing when buying a silk pillowcase is the quality.

At least if you're looking for a pillowcase that looks beautiful today and tomorrow, even with durability in mind. The most important thing is that it is made of 100% pure silk and that the VAT is high. Momme defines the thickness of the fabric and the amount of silk. The higher the momme, the higher the amount of silk, which also means higher quality. The thread density is also important.

Lenoites have a thread density of 6A, which gives a high quality and an intense density. There are also different qualities of mulberry silk just as there are different qualities of cotton. Quality depends on how it is made and which supplier of mulberry silk is used.

The quality of Lenoite is magical and truly the finest silk fabric I have laid my hands on. They are also OEKO-TEX standard 100 certified, which means it is approved for babies. You can let a newborn baby sleep on the pillowcase immediately after birth, the pillowcases are completely free of chemicals and poison. In addition, production has taken place under good working conditions, which I think is very important.

But is a pillowcase worth that much money? It depends on what you prioritize.

For example, some who sleep on a particular side may notice that the hair on the side that usually lies against the cotton pillow is shorter and weaker. This is because the hair has rubbed against the cotton pillowcase. If you spend more than a thousand kroner for a hairdresser's visit, the price of a pillowcase is definitely worth it to keep your hair healthy until the next visit to the hairdresser. In addition, the pillowcase does not absorb moisture from your hair, which contributes to shinier hair.

Not just hair – the skin feels very good against the silk. If you put your head against a cotton pillow, the cotton will absorb the skin's moisture. If you spend money on serums and night creams, your skin will not be able to retain the ingredients in the products for a long time. I felt like I was throwing my money down the drain when I woke up with a dry face every morning, so I started looking for what to do and then found that silk pillowcases are the solution to my problem. Silk does not absorb moisture, which means that the pillow is always dry but at the same time moisturizing and smooth for your skin.

I also had a problem with always waking up with sleep wrinkles. Those problems are gone now. I NEVER have sleep wrinkles. In addition, silk is moisture-, dust- and dirt-repellent, which means that mold and mites do not thrive. This is why many people with allergies or sensitive skin use silk pillowcases.

So again – is a pillowcase worth the price?

It depends on what you think it's worth! I personally have bought many silk pillowcases in my life and was disappointed and tired of the poor cheap quality. They were thin and not shiny at all. It ended up being more expensive in the end than if I had bought the "right" pillowcase in the first place.

It can be compared with different fruits from different suppliers. An apple is an apple just as a silk pillowcase is a silk pillowcase. There are cheaper and more expensive apples. Some think budget apples are perfect and others want to pay more to buy an organic apple that is non-toxic and picked under good working conditions. When we talk about apples, there are different kinds of apples, just like there are different kinds of silk.

The difference between a silk pillowcase and an apple is that you eat the apple. The difference between a visit to the hairdresser and a silk pillowcase is that the hair eventually grows out. However, you will have a pillowcase for many, many years. So if you ask me, it's worth it!

This is coming from someone who has bought MANY silk pillowcases and finally found the right one.

My favorite color is beige or white. The white is perfectly white and matches all shades of white so you never have to worry about it cutting. Rose gold is also absolutely magical!! Then the green is also absolutely wonderful... yes, you understand. I can't decide... 🙂
